Subclass 500

Student visa for Australia

Australia offers an extensive array of student visas for internationals desiring to study in the country. To be eligible for subclass 500, applicants must follow all instructions issued by the Immigration Office.

As a student in Australia, your stay on the continent may be limited to no more than five years. If you are embarking on a course that is less lengthy, it is possible for your visa to be extended accordingly.

Students are unable to gain permanent residency with their student visas. In order for students to attain full citizenship, it is necessary for them to pursue a permanent skilled work visa application. After expiry of such an accorded visa, students must vacate Australia and depart permanently.

Students may be required to submit proof of sufficient proficiency in English. Minimum acceptable IELTS score 500 is 5.5 with no less than 5 bands in any part of the test.

Your temporary graduate visa grants you a period of validity between two and four years, depending on your particular program and qualifications. For those with postgraduate qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree, the maximum duration is two years; for an advanced masters-level qualification it could be up to five years.
